One of Europe’s most luxurious seaside areas and Crete’s diamond, Elounda, is just a short drive from your hotel. With its dreamland coastline and crystal waters the whole area of Mirabello is a great destination for a day trip.
Drive through the little village of Elounda and get to Plaka: a picturesque by-the-sea village with old houses, fish taverns and traditional kafenio. Enjoy the calm and pebbly Plaka beach and the impeccable view of the Spinalonga island, standing opposite.
Find the boat times that can take you to this amazing monument-island. Spinalonga is full of memories and stories since it served as a leper colony for years. It became popular through Victoria Hislop’s best-selling book “The island”. Walk around the village and discover its history through a guided tour.
Back to the bay, it is worth driving towards Elounda to admire the old salt marshes. Α scenic view, ideal for an evening walk. Drive to the chapel of St. Luke and from there walk to the amazing beach of Kolokytha, famous for its clear turquoise waters.
