Ierapetra - Selakano - Males - Tertsa
One way approx. 61.0 km, 1h 55 min driving time

Crete is not only about beaches. Its wild mountains and villages are of unique beauty. While being at the east of the island it is worth driving up to the Selakano pine woods which is surrounded by the area’s four highest peaks of Diktis Mountains. Enjoy the scenic route following the road either from Ierapetra or from Kalamafka village. Park your car and wander around the large network of forest roads. On the way down, stop at Males village which is built at the southern foothills of Dikti: a great place to enjoy a traditional meal and a good local wine.

Not to Miss

  • Look out to spot hawks and golden eagles in Selakano.
  • Visit the church of Agia Paraskevi in Selakano and take a coffee under plane trees.
  • Try papayas, locally grown in Tertsa.

There is not a better way to finish the day than driving down to Myrtos and then Tertsa. the beach of Tertsa. These villages preserve the originality of the laid back Cretan way of living. Tertsa is also known for its warm exotic micro-climate ideal for growing bananas, physalis and guavas!
